February 11th, 2012 was the 2nd anniversary for Let's Move!, an initiative launched by the First Lady dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation. Michelle Obama celebrated during a three day Birthday tour, which included dancing with Florida school children and Disney stars.
Let’s Move is an initiative of the Office of the First Lady, Michelle Obama, designed to solve the issue of childhood obesity within a generation and involves parents and families in order to get kids more active and eating healthier foods. The website includes resources for parents, community leaders, schools and health care professionals to begin to address the nations childhood obesity epidemic.
The USDA Office of Faith Based Initiatives and the Let's Move Faith and Communities websites provides resources, tools and fact-sheets on community gardens for faith-based organizations and those working with faith-based groups.
Released in March 2011, the First Lady’s Let’s Move campaign encourages local officials to use the Let’s Move Cities and Towns “Toolkit for Local Officials,” which provides tools to launch a Let’s Move campaign in your own city, relevant federal officials’ contact information, links to webinars and other resources and opportunities to learn more about the program.
