“As we went around the room, it was clear that we were so diverse that we shouldn’t be in the same room together.... We never had the discussion to leave baggage at the door to focus on food, but that’s what we did. We all had the maturity, I guess… We don’t allow politics at our meetings, only local food issues at the state politics level. It’s not that the baggage that we leave at the door isn’t important, or that we expect people to check their deeply held values, but that our organization is only about food and local food. We’ve found that this table fellowship is one thing that fundamentalist Baptists can come together with pagans to agree about. This coming together was a miracle, I think.”
